The challenge

Jane and Neil have been teaching for a combined 35 years. Jane is due to retire soon and has been meaning to get her affairs in order. Jane and Neil have one adult son, Huw, who still lives at home.

Huw has Special Educational Needs (SEN) and does not work. Jane is concerned that Huw will struggle to manage finances accordingly following any inheritance should they both die. Neil and Jane are concerned about the threat of increased legal costs on death that will eat into their estate left to their son.

The solution

We helped prepare a Family Asset Protection Trust which ensured that Huw would be able to best manage his finances following any inheritance.
